Author: Katie Cruice Smith, Author

First of all, I am a child of God. I was blessed to come to know Him as my personal Savior when I was just 5 years old! All I ever wanted was to become a writer and a mom, and God has granted me "my petition that I asked of Him." I became a mom through adoption to a beautiful daughter, Hannah, who is teaching me how to mother in God's grace; a handsome boy, Ephraim, who keeps us all laughing; and bossy, sweet-natured Harmony, who is never boring! I stepped into the rocky world of fostering as well but have had to step back and focus on the children God has given me to raise right now. As the marketing assistant for our adoption attorney, I have had the opportunity to see all sides of the triad and work hand in hand with many adoption specialist, adoptive/foster families, and even biological families. Follow along and let's enjoy this unique parenting journey together!

Over 10 years ago, I became a mother. The moment they handed me the baby and gave us our marching orders from the hospital, fear and anxiety took over my heart. What was I doing taking this baby home with me?! Didn't they know I had no experience whatsoever?! The first night was the hardest. We… Continue reading To All the Women Who Want to Be Mom

April 24, 2018 Katie Cruice Smith, Author

The day is finally here--opening day. My seven-year-old son eagerly pulls on his baseball pants, team jersey, and baseball hat, and then gathers his bat, glove, and helmet. He's anticipating the first game of the season. "I am a professional," he brags to one of his new teammates. "I've been playing for five years!" It's… Continue reading Keep Your Eye on the Prize

April is National Poetry Month, so I thought I would share one of my early works with you. Don't judge--this is from my high school days! In "Leviathan," the oddball team of tattoo artist Brenda, the Professor, his assistant Andi, and lovable jock Tank--along with their gifted, young… Continue reading Book Review: Probing
