Dani Pettrey has managed, once again, to create a Christian crime thriller. While I find many books in this genre to be lacking in true readability, I have immensely enjoyed Pettrey’s Alaskan Courage series.
In the second book of the series, Shattered, Pettrey reunites the reader with the McKenna family, whose life in Alaska seems to bring about one adventure after another. This time, though, the danger lurks closer to home as Reef McKenna is arrested for the murder of some-time lover and fellow team member, Karli Davis.
With Reef’s shady past and his contempt for his hometown, the rest of the McKenna clan and most of the town of Yancey already believe he’s guilty. But his younger sister, Piper, is convinced that he’s being framed and will stop at nothing to find out who the real killer is – much to the dismay of her family and her brother’s best friend, Landon. Willing to risk it all to find justice, Piper drags Landon with her up and down the west coast to find out who the real Karli Davis is and why anyone would want her killed.
Through it all, the McKennas are pointed again and again to God, trusting in Him when Piper and Landon go missing, when the Mongol clan follows hot on their heels, and when all hope seems lost. If you are looking for a story of love, redemption, suspense, and salvation, then this series is a must-read for you.
