While we’ve been getting started on our 2020-2021 school year, we have had the opportunity to fill in some of the gaps with Super Teacher Worksheets.
This program is an annual online membership that offers resources for math, reading and writing, early literacy, grammar, spelling lists, chapter books, science, and social studies. In addition, there are fun worksheets for seasonal use and holidays and puzzles and brain teasers for extra credit. All of this is for the very reasonable membership fee of $24.95, and you can print as many worksheets as you want.
The worksheets were especially great for transitioning my kindergartner into first grade. She has struggled a bit with her letters, so I really wanted her to have the extra handwriting practice.
We started with an alphabet page because I wanted her to practice the whole thing. I think she did really well, and she had a great attitude about doing it, too!
Once she had worked on her alphabet, I thought we would give some of the phonics worksheets a try. She really struggles to hear the “e” sound in words, often mistaking it for the “i” instead. So, I looked for a page that would help reinforce the letter for her. Super Teacher Worksheets did not let me down. I printed off the “Short E” worksheet and then followed it up the next day with the “Short I.” We’re getting there, slowly but surely!
She is also starting to learn addition and subtraction, so I was pleased to find several worksheets for me to choose from to see where she is in her math skills.
This particular math sheet was especially helpful, and I actually saw some improvement in her understanding of adding more than just one to a number. She has really excelled in math this year.
She has really enjoyed the extra worksheets that I have been able to add to her curriculum, thanks to Super Teacher Worksheets. This was especially helpful when our online curriculum had a major system crash that kept us from our normal schedule for a couple of days. But thanks to Super Teacher Worksheets, I was able to continue schooling and didn’t lose momentum with her.
Since she often finishes her work before her older brother and sister, I love that I can also print out some fun worksheets and coloring pages to keep her occupied.
I think this is a great resource to help reinforce curriculum. Sometimes, children need extra activities to help them understand concepts better. Whether it’s through cut-outs and gluing projects, filling in the blanks, word search, or coloring pages, Super Teacher Worksheets is a great resource for a great price.
