Silenced: A Book Review

Silenced, Alaskan Courage Series #4

Dani Pettrey manages to keep me riveted again in her fourth book in the Alaskan Courage series – Silenced.

Kayden McKenna is possibly the toughest member of the McKenna family – at least from all outward appearances.  After losing her parents, Kayden refuses to allow anyone outside the family get close to her and is intent on keeping her body in shape to fight what killed her mother.

Jake Westin (nee Cavanagh) has loved and lost deeply, and he wants to leave his past in the past.  But Jake can’t help but be attracted to the strong-willed Kayden, who won’t give him the time of day.

However, when Kayden finds a body on one of her climbs, the two suddenly find themselves thrown together to try to find the killer.  But each clue seems to only lead to more questions and definitely more danger.  When Kayden begins to receive threatening notes, Jake knows that they may be in deeper than they realized.

Will they be able to find the killer before the killer finds them?  And will two broken hearts finally become one?

Dani Pettrey does an excellent job of making the reader believe her characters are real people.  It’s easy to get drawn into the story and try to uncover the mystery.  But one of the benefits of Pettrey’s books is that she also points the reader to God throughout her story and constantly emphasizes redemption.

I would definitely recommend this book as a take-along for vacation this summer!
